BOULDER - The Boulder Innovation Center's Metrics Report for 2008 indicates strong economic growth within Boulder's entrepreneurial ecosystem of scientific research, business mentor and venture capital networks.
It also revealed that the innovation center's industry focus areas of bioscience, renewable/clean-tech, aerospace commercialization, nanotech/optical engineering, information technology and natural products is strong as well.

"Perhaps the most striking BIC performance metric in 2008 was the creation of 68 jobs within our client companies, almost doubling our results from the previous year," said BIC Executive Director Tim Bour. "Our efforts have helped to support 204 full-time employees up from 87 in 2007, working in client and alumni companies that are now grossing nearly $20 million in annual revenues."
In 2008, BIC companies almost doubled their commercial leased space in Boulder, and both the number of BIC clients and number of company inquiries tripled when compared to the prior year. The BIC was instrumental in forming four new startup companies commercializing technology coming out of the University of Colorado: 3QMatrix, Line Rate Systems, ION Engineering and Tusaar.
"Amidst economic uncertainty, there's an undercurrent on the rise here in Boulder that's setting the stage for the next phase of national economic growth," Bour said.
