LOUISVILLE - Zayo Bandwidth will deploy bandwidth infrastructure services to an additional 300 wireless tower sites in the Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley areas of Pennsylvania.
Zayo Bandwidth, a wholly owned subsidiary of Louisville-based Zayo Group, will deploy time-division multiplexing, or TDM, and Ethernet services in support of current mobile platforms and the upcoming transition to fourth-generation technologies.
TDM is a method of putting multiple data streams in a single signal by separating the signal into many segments, each having a very short duration. Each individual data stream is reassembled at the receiving end based on the timing.
"With new mobile applications requiring significantly greater bandwidth, mobile service providers are faced with meeting tomorrow's bandwidth requirements today," said Chris Murphy, vice president of sales and business development for Zayo Bandwidth.
Zayo Group provides its service over a fiber network that spans 131 markets in 21 states. Zayo Group consists of four complementary business units: Zayo Bandwidth, Zayo Enterprise Networks, Zayo Colocation Services and Onvoy Voice Services.
