BROOMFIELD - John Hayes, chief operating officer of Broomfield-based Ball Corp. (NYSE:BLL), has added the job of president and join the board of directors of the metal and plastic packaging manufacturer.

Effective Jan. 1, Hayes succeeds R. David Hoover, who remains chairman and chief executive.

In another change, Treasurer Scott C. Morrison was named to the additional posts of senior vice president and chief financial officer. As CFO, Morrison succeeds Raymond J. Seabrook, who becomes executive vice president of the parent and COO for global packaging operations.

The changes are part of the company's succession plan.
