BROOMFIELD - Travel club Quintess, The Leading Residences of the World, has launched an initiative program enabling guests to make decisions about how "green" their travel will be.

In this carbon-neutral program, Broomfield-based Quintess will contribute funds to renewable energy programs to offset members' energy consumption in each of the club's properties worldwide.

Sustainable Travel International, a nonprofit travel agency, has created a carbon-offset program for the club by calculating Quintess' carbon footprint, the total carbon emissions associated with each property based on electricity consumption, square footage, number of rooms, average occupancy rates and estimated number of guests annually.

The Leading Hotels of the World Ltd., partnering with Quintess in this venture, will make a corporate donation of 50 cents to Sustainable Travel International for every night of a guest's stay. If club members want to make a financial donation on their own, they can use the carbon calculator on the Quintess Web site to determine how much would be needed to offset their carbon footprint.
