BOULDER - The National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder is signing an agreement with Britain's National Centre for Atmospheric Science to collaborate more closely on atmospheric science and technology.

The goal of the partnership is to coordinate ongoing research into weather, climate, air quality and interactions between land, oceans and atmosphere. The two centers plan to develop, compare and evaluate computer models of atmospheric and Earth systems and to develop new sensors and other instruments for measuring the atmosphere.

The collaboration also involves education and outreach, including joint summer schools and exchanges for students and staff.

"Internal collaboration on this scale has never been more timely," said Stephen Mobbs, the director for Britain's National Center for Atmospheric Science. "No one nation can unravel the complexities of the atmosphere, we have to work together to tackle environmental issues head on."
