Owners Mara and Peter Soutiere opened the Pearl Street Steak Room at 1035 Pearl St., Boulder. The Soutieres also own Tahona and Sushi Tora restaurant at 2014 10th St. The room has eight tables; seating 34 people The restaurant will operate using rented kitchen space from Tahona. The dinner menu includes surf and turf choices, with the top menu item - the 32-ounce Wagyu Tomahawk steak - listed at $89. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with cocktail hour from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Dr. Michael McCracken opened an office of the McCracken Eye and Face Institute at 1810 30th St., Suite B, in Boulder. McCracken Eye and Face Institute's primary location is in Parker, near Denver. McCracken Eye and Face Institute offers a range of cosmetic surgical and nonsurgical procedures for the eyes and face, including brow lift , blepharoplasty, mid-facelift, laser resurfacing, chemical peels and dermal fillers. In addition to cosmetic procedures, McCracken has training in performing medical and reconstructive surgical procedures for the eyes and face, including droopy eyelid surgery, tear duct surgery, orbital fracture repair, thyroid eye disease treatments, eyelid tumor reconstruction, and facial nerve palsy treatments.
SullivanHayes Brokerage relocated its office in Longmont to Boulder at 1301 Canyon Blvd., Suite 228. Michael DePalma, who has overseen the office in Longmont, along with Sean Kulzer, will be heading the new operation. Boulder-based Boulder Granola, a maker of organic granola, has been awarded organic certification from the California Certified Organic Farmers, a USDA national organic program.
Boulder Parks and Recreation's Flatirons Golf Course retained its Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary designation. Flatirons Golf Course initially earned the environmental certification in 2010, through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses an Audubon International program. Flatirons is one of 839 golf courses worldwide to receive the designation. To be certified, a course must demonstrate that it is maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas: environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, outreach and education, chemical use reduction and safety, water conservation, and water quality management.
Broomfield-based Pilatus Business Aircraft Ltd. delivered the 1,100th unit of its flagship single-engine turboprop PC-12. The aircraft was built for Jet Air Group, doing business as Frontline Aviation, based in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Pilatus Business Aircraft in Broomfield is a wholly owned subsidiary of Switzerland-based aircraft manufacturer Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. The plant in Broomfield was founded in 1996 and provides completions, marketing, sales and service for Pilatus aircraft in North America and South America.
Biotechnology company Amgen Inc.'s drug Enbrel received a new patent from the U.S. Patent Office that protects it from competition from generic drugs for 17 more years. Amgen (NYSE: AMGN) makes Enbrel, a drug to treat rheumatoid arthritis, at its plant in Rhode Island. It makes the anti-bone fracture drugs Prolia, Xgeva and the anemia drug Epogen at plants in Longmont and Boulder. About 700 people work at the two plants in Colorado. Enbrel's main patent originally was set to expire in October 2012. It is one of several biotechnology drugs approved in the United States that was expected to face competition in the next few years from similar generic drugs. The new patent keeps the generic market competition at bay until Nov. 22, 2028.
Boulder-based Clovis Oncology Inc. (Nasdaq: CLVS) announced that the underwriters of its recently completed initial public offering have exercised their option to purchase an additional 700,000 shares of Clovis Oncology common stock to cover over-allotments. J.P. Morgan Securities LLC and Credit Suisse Securities (USA) LLC are acting as joint book-running managers for the offering, and Leerink Swann LLC is acting as co-manager for the offering. Clovis Oncology is a biopharmaceutical company focused on acquiring, developing and commercializing anti-cancer agents in the United States and international markets.
The Creative Alliance in Lafayette completed the design of a trade show environment for NationAir Aviation Insurance. The 20-foot by 20-foot booth includes a private conference room, brand-reinforcing visual identity, external seating areas and large, full-panel graphics of various aircraft.
Rockport Publishers contracted Leif Steiner, creative director of Boulder-based ad agency Moxie Sozo, to write a book about package design. Scheduled for publication in fall 2012, the book will cover all aspects of package design-history, trends, value and branding power. He'll also draw upon his nearly 20 years of design and agency experience to detail the differences between working with large and small brands, and to provide necessary tools for packaging success.
Gaiam Inc. (Nasdaq: GAIA), a Louisville-based producer and marketer of lifestyle media and fitness accessories, has signed an agreement with Shady Acres Entertainment to distribute the film "I Am" on DVD and through digital platforms.
Software engineers in Northrop Gruman Corp.'s office in Boulder will work on a project to provide research and development for a U.S. Air Force program called MASTER, an acronym for Modular Architecture for Signal-processing, Tracking and Exploitation Research. Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE: NOC) was awarded the $5.75 million contract from the Space and Missile System Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base in California. The work will be done in Northrop's office in Boulder, which is part of Northrop Grumman's Sensor Exploitation Systems division, as well as Colorado Springs and in Azusa, California.

The Zayo Group in Louisville completed its transaction to purchase 360networks. The resulting bandwidth infrastructure company will have an estimated annual revenue of $393 million. The company's fiber network totals more than 44,000 route miles and nearly 2 million fiber miles.
