Boulder Creek Builders LLC appointed Dan Millard as site supervisor for its Steel Ranch community. Millard will oversee the building and construction efforts at Steel Ranch. Millard has more than 11 years of experience in the construction industry. Previously, he worked as a general contractor for New Dimension Builders, performing tasks in all aspects of a construction project, including marketing, construction and warranty. Prior to this, Millard worked 10 years for McStain Neighborhoods. The company also appointed Drew Kell as community sales manager. Kell has 12 years of experience in the every aspect of the building process and six years of new home sales experience.
JVA Inc. hired Chris Green as a design engineer in the structural department at its office in Boulder. A graduate of the University of Wyoming, Green has worked with consulting firms in South Dakota and Kentucky. JVA is a structural, civil, and environmental consulting engineering firm with offices in Boulder, Winter Park and Fort Collins.
Jerry Gloss of Louisville-based KGA/Studio Architects was a speaker at the 2012 Pacific Coast Builder Conference held in San Francisco where he highlighted recent trends in residential design. The hallmark of the 50-year-old conference is the recognition of innovation and leadership in the housing industry.
Broomfield-based engineering and consulting firm MWH Global Inc. hired Mark Schultz as chief legal and risk officer. Schultz has nearly 28 years of international experience and will assume responsibility for all legal aspects for MWH including corporate governance, safety, claims and litigation, risk and insurance, ethics and compliance. Schultz specializes in technology, finance and corporate governance. In his previous role at SRA International Inc., an information management and management consulting firm based in Fairfax, Virginia., he served as senior vice president, secretary and general counsel.
Boulder-based investment and financial-planning firm Harbor Financial Group Inc. has hired Leah Hengemuhle as an intern. Hengemuhle graduated from Gonzaga University with bachelor's degrees in accounting and business administration.
Andrew Butt, wealth-management banker, and Ginnie Spellman, registered senior client associate, of Boulder-based Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Inc., were appointed to the board of directors of Bank of America/Merrill Lynch Community Volunteers. The organization coordinates community volunteer opportunities for Bank of America/Merrill Lynch's employees.
Merrill Lynch promoted C.J. Gauss to resident director of its office in Boulder. Gauss has been a part of Merrill Lynch's office in Boulder for 12 years. He is a wealth-management adviser and a certified financial planner. Gauss received a bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont.
Matthew Kelley, a certified financial planner at Boulder-based Gold Medal Waters Inc., has earned the Five Star Professional Award, which is awarded to service professionals who provide quality services to their clients. Five Star Professional conducts localized, independent research to determine recipients of the designation and allows no more than 7 percent of service professionals in a given market to qualify for the award.
Boulder-based Array BioPharma Inc. (Nasdaq: ARRY) appointed Andrew Robbins as senior vice president for commercial operations. The newly created position reflects the company's transformation toward a commercial-stage company, as several products in the Array pipeline approach trials. Robbins will be responsible for working with Array's research and development teams to refine the company's strategy. Robbins has extensive commercial, development and strategic leadership expertise from a 15-year career in the pharmaceutical industry. Most recently he was at Hospira Inc. where he served as general manager/vice president of the U.S. alternate site business unit.
Boulder-based molecular diagnostic company Biodesix Inc. hired Dominic Spinella as vice president for clinical development and medical affairs. His 20 years of experience in drug development and translational medicine include work at pharmaceutical companies Pfizer Inc. and Chugai Pharmaceuticals USA, as well as authoring or co-authoring more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts and holding 12 issued or pending patents. He received a master's degree in genetics and a doctorate in immunology from Rutgers University.
Front Range Community College named Carla Stein dean of student services at its campus in Longmont. Stein's more than 25 years of higher-education experience includes work at Western Nebraska Community College, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado Art Institute, the University of Denver and Oklahoma State University. Stein replaces Stacey Hogan, who became coordinator of the Trade Adjustment Act Energy Program at FRCC.
The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies appointed Lauren Larson director of the Division of Registrations. The appointment is effective Aug. 6, two days before the division's name is changed to the Division of Professions and Occupations. Larson's nearly two decades of experience in business and public-policy analysis and consulting includes nine years at the federal Office of Management and Budget in Washington D.C.
The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research in Boulder hired Scott Rayder as senior adviser for development and partnerships. Rayder will provide strategic direction on policy issues for UCAR and for the National Center for Atmospheric Research, which UCAR manages. He will also focus on developing national and international partnerships for the institution and its consortium of 77 member universities.
Drew Hildner joined Front Range Orthopedics & Spine as a physician's assistant. Front Range has offices in Longmont, Lafayette and Estes Park. Hildner received his master's degree in physician assistant studies from Samuel Merritt University in California. He is a member of Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery and the American Association of Physician Assistants. He has been a member of Boulder County's Mountain Search and Rescue Group since 2004.
Law firm Bryan Cave HRO LLP hired Danielle Town to practice in the firm's technology, entrepreneurial, commercial and transactions groups in its offices in Boulder and Denver. While completing her coursework, Town worked at the firm part-time, focusing on company formations and early-stage financing.
The Humane Society of Boulder Valley added Allison Kean, DVM, to its veterinary team. Kean earned her doctorate of veterinary medicine from Colorado State University and received a bachelor's degree from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. She has worked as a licensed veterinary technician and pet trainer. She previously practiced small animal medicine in Denver. Also, Laura Douthit, DVM, joined the Humane Society of Boulder Valley as a shelter medicine Intern. Douthit earned her doctorate of veterinary medicine from Oklahoma State University where she also received her bachelor's in animal science. Her interests include clinical pathology, animal behavior and rehabilitation medicine.
The Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra elected Kyle Heckman as president of its board of directors. Heckman is president of Flatirons Bank in Boulder. Heckman succeeds David Fulker, who was president of the board for eight years, a member of the board for eight years prior and principal trumpet in the orchestra for 34 years. Heckman will serve a three-year term.
Broomfield-based Aircell LLC, a provider of in-flight connectivity equipment and services to the business aviation market, has hired John Hinton as regional sales manager for the northeastern United States. He previously was principal sales manager at Rockwell Collins Inc.
