Area foreclosures up sharply in August
According to the Boulder County public trustee's office, 50 properties were sold after going through the foreclosure process in August, a 213 percent increase compared with the 16 sold in July.
In Broomfield, 11 properties were sold, up from seven in July, according to its public trustee's office.
In Boulder County, the number of notices for election and demand, which start the foreclosure process, dropped from 80 in July to 76 in August. Longmont had the most foreclosures started, with 38, followed by 17 in Lafayette and 10 in the city of Boulder.
Twenty-four properties were foreclosed on in Broomfield, up from 15 in July.
