Webroot ranks 2nd in retail market share
That puts Broomfield-based Webroot in the No. 2 spot in its industry in terms of retail customers, the company said in a press statement. Webroot has Best Buy and Target as customers, as well as other well-known retailers.
Kaspersky Lab, a Russian-based company with U.S. headquarters in Woburn, Massachusetts, recorded the highest market share in the NPD survey with a 37 percent share.
"We are thrilled to take the second-place position, but we are far from complacent," said David Bennett, vice president for Webroot's worldwide consumer sales, in a press statement.
Webroot recently launched its 2013 software line, Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2013, and partnered with Facebook, the social media company, to protect users against online security threats, according to the press statement.
Webroot SecureAnywhere includes layers of software protection such as a firewall, identity protection, anti-phishing and a Web Threat Shield to block harmful websites.
The company was founded in 1997 and has about 350 employees. Webroot has operations across North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
