Longmont-based Left Hand Brewing Co. won a gold medal in the sweet stout category. Dale's Pale Ale, the signature product of Longmont-based Oskar Blues Brewery LLC, won a silver medal in the English-style pale ale category and a bronze in the Bohemian-style pilsner category for its Mama's Little Yella Pils. Boulder-based Twisted Pine Brewing Co. won a bronze medal in the Baltic-style porter category for its Northstar Imperial Porter.
The three local craft brewers were among 21 American breweries that won 25 awards in 22 categories at the competition. All are members of the export-development program of the Boulder-based Brewer’s Association. Their entries were among 1,366 competing beers from 45 countries. The judges – 102 brewmasters, beer sommeliers and specialized journalists from 25 countries – took two days to choose the winners by blind tasting in 50 categories.
The winners were announced Nov. 14 at the Brau Beviale beverage trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany.
