"Expanding our international operations with experienced and successful people is a natural step to supporting our customer demand" in those areas, said Matt Larson, Confio's co-founder and chief executive.
To head up the international effort, Confio hired Garry Clark as director of sales in the region, where he will lead the direct-sales effort and channel development. Clark previously worked for IBM and British Telecom.
Confio also hired Neil Hambly as senior systems engineer and database administrator to lead Confio's technical-support facility. A database engineer, Hamble held database administration roles at the BBC, Accenture and MDSL.
Founded in 2002, Confio Software develops database performance solution for database developers and administrators and information-technology managers for both physical and virtual server environments.
Confio's flagship product, Ignite, helps eliminate bottlenecks for SQL server, Oracle, DB2 and Sybase databases and VMware servers.
Along with consistent growth in the United States, Confio has been benefiting from a continued increase in international sales. Fast-growing markets for databases such as Brazil, China and India are becoming an important part of Confio's strategy, along with its presence in European countries. Confio is tapping into these growth markets with the recent release of Ignite supporting double-byte characters for Asian languages. This growth has led to several industry awards this year, including the Inc. 500|5000 and the Deloitte Technology Fast 500.
The British office is located at 88 Wood St., London EC2V 7RS, and can be reached at +44 (0) 208 528 1744.
