Arvada-based Community First Foundation and FirstBank Holding Co. sponsored the third annual charity giving day, marketed with the tagline, "Give where you live." In 2011, Colorado Gives Day raised $12.4 million for 928 nonprofits across the state.
Specific 2012 Boulder and Broomfield county donation amounts will be available in January, said Caitlin Jenny, a spokeswoman for the program.
"The response we've received from Coloradans this year has been astonishing," said John Ikard, president and chief executive of Lakewood-based FirstBank Holding Co., in a press statement "We're proud of our community and its residents for coming together and selflessly giving back to some of the best charitable organizations in the state."
FirstBank put together a $300,000 incentive fund for the 2012 event and sponsored additional prizes, including four $10,000 Luck-of-the-Draw prizes.
Colorado Gives Day 2012 received approximately 68,000 donations - an increase of 30 percent from last year's 52,226 donations.
Last year, Boulder County residents and companies gave $942,145 to 97 local charities for Colorado Gives Day 2011. Broomfield County saw 297 donors give $41,509 to eight charities in 2011.
While the one-day event is finished, you can still donate to local charities through the Community First Foundation. To do so, go to GivingFirst.org.
