IP-focused law firms in Boulder merge
Greenlee Sullivan's attorneys will set up shop in Lathrop & Gage's office in Boulder on Jan. 1, creating an intellectual property-focused law office, a Lathrop & Gage spokesman said Wednesday.
Financial terms of the merger were not disclosed between Boulder-based Greenlee Sullivan and Kansas City, Missouri-based Lathrop & Gage. Greenlee Sullivan's five partners, two associate attorneys, three patent agents and support staff will work at Lathrop & Gage's office in Boulder said Curtis Vock, the Lathrop & Gage partner in charge in Boulder.
"It's pretty exciting. Boulder is a great place to grow," Vock said.
Greenlee Sullivan's partners are Sally Sullivan, Stephen Barone, Steven Penner, Susan Doughty and Gary Chapman. Some members of the Greenlee Sullivan team have doctorates in chemistry, microbiology, immunology and biophysics, according to the press statement.
Greenlee Sullivan's office in Boulder will close and the name will be retired as a result of the merger. Some of Lathrop & Gage's personnel in Boulder will move to the firm's office in Denver to make room for the Greenlee Sullivan personnel, Vock said.
Lathrop & Gage also focuses on litigation, real estate and oil and gas in Denver, Vock said.
Lathrop & Gage's clients include the University of Colorado, Colorado State University and Albeo Technologies Inc., which was just bought by GE Lighting, among others. The firm has 320 attorneys in 11 offices nationwide, from Los Angeles to New York.
