BOULDER - Smart Balance Inc. changed its name to Boulder Brands Inc. on Wednesday, and the relocation of its principal corporate office to Boulder remains on schedule to take place this summer.

The company's Nasdaq ticker symbol also changed on Wednesday from SMBL to BDBD.

The name change, announced last year, reflects the company's transformation to a company with multiple brands, including brands in the natural-foods industry.

The company's brands consist of Smart Balance, Udi's, Glutino, Earth Balance and Best Life. Glutino and Udi's focus on gluten-free diets; Earth Balance focuses on plant-based diets; Smart Balance targets heart healthier diets; and Bestlife centers on weight management.

As part of the name change, the company's website and email domain will change to www.boulderbrands.com.

Chief executive Steve Hughes said the company's natural brands - Udi's, Glutino and Earth Balance - are expected to represent greater than 50 percent of net revenue in 2013.

"The decision to change our corporate name to Boulder Brands Inc. simply completes our evolution, from when the company was founded as Boulder Specialty Brands in 2005," he said. "We are delighted to move our principal corporate offices to Pearl Street in downtown Boulder this summer."
