Feeney to lead Naturally Boulder's board
Last Updated: 13:23 January 27, 2013
Feeney will serve as president of the Naturally Boulder group. Bill Capsalis, a 25-year marketing veteran, and Sonja Tuitele, vice president of communications at Aurora Organic Dairy Holdings LLC, will serve as co-vice presidents. Frances Draper, vice chancellor for strategic relations at the University of Colorado-Boulder, is the group's new treasurer; Jennifer Margoles, an executive at 34 Degrees LLC, is the secretary.
Naturally Boulder has grown rapidly in stature and cache since it was started in 2005 as an economic development initiative led by the city of Boulder and the Boulder Economic Council. Board members serve two-year terms.
Some 21 food industry representatives applied to serve a new board term, according to Tuitele. At the end of its tenure, each existing board looks at applications and recommends a slate of new members, which are then voted on by all members, Tuitele said. The new board was approved at a meeting in December; the complete board was announced Friday, Jan. 18, in a Naturally Boulder newsletter.
Sponsors of Naturally Boulder events have included Celestial Seasonings Inc., a Boulder division of The Hain Celestial Group Inc. (Nasdaq: HAIN) based in Melville, New York, Horizon Organic milk, a brand of WhiteWave Foods Co. (NYSE: WWAV) based in Broomfield, and numerous local companies.
The board puts on a variety of events, including an industry "pitch slam" that helps startup natural and organic companies get recognized. Naturally Boulder also produces networking events and educational programs.
