DBI's awards luncheon on Tuesday
The organization will present its Business of the Year award to Newton Running Company Inc. for its efforts to enhance Boulder's global reputation as a running mecca. Its corporate headquarters is located in downtown, and the maker of running shoes hosted its annual retailer event last summer at the St Julien Hotel & Spa in downtown.
Kidrobot Inc. will be presented the Rising Star Award for helping enhance the downtown retail landscape by opening its store gallery on the Pearl Street Mall last July.
Property Owners of the Year will go to David and Julie Welker who own the buildings occupied by West Flanders Brewing Co. and Full Cycle Inc.
Ellen Cunningham, special events manager with the Downtown University Hill Management and Parking Services, will receive the Community Service Award.
The Ron Porter Special Achievement Award will go to Virginia Patterson, a longtime business woman and community advocate.
John Ricks, associate director of the Colorado Tourism Office, will be the keynote speaker. Ricks will share feedback and results from the state's marketing campaign, "Come To Life," that was launched in 2012.
The luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the St Julien Hotel & Spa, 900 Walnut St., Boulder. Cost is $49 for DBI members and $59 for nonmembers. Register online at www.BoulderDowntown.com/annual.
