Gold Hill company touts new steak sauce
The family-owned and operated all-natural specialty foods company was founded in Gold Hill, west of Boulder, by Carolyn and Leland Oxley in 2010.
Motherlode Provisions Steak Sauce is accented with fresh roasted garlic, rosemary and pomegranate molasses and can be used as a cooking sauce or table condiment for beef, chicken, pork, game and vegetables.
"As a professionally trained chef, I wanted to create a bottled steak sauce in the style of the classic pan sauces that I used to create on the spot - in restaurant kitchens," said founder and chef Leland Oxley.
Motherlode Provisions also will present its line of products including barbecue sauces, hot sauces, steak sauce and the company's flagship creation, Rocky Mountain Style Bloody Mary Mix. Motherlode's products are free of preservatives and gluten ingredients, and some are vegetarian or vegan.
Motherlode Provisions' products can be found at Whole Foods Market and other natural retailers in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Kansas. Motherlode's new steak sauce will be in distribution at natural retailers such as Alfalfa's Market and specialty shops such as Cured starting this month.
The Oxleys launched Motherlode Provisions from their home in Gold Hill, a historic gold-mining town. Their barbecue sauce was originally created and served at a benefit welcoming victims of Boulder's Fourmile Canyon Fire back to their mountain communities.
