BOULDER - San Francisco-based marketing agency Evolution Bureau will open an office in Boulder, and has hired a local Crispin Porter + Bogusky LLC marketing agency executive to staff it.

Steve Babcock will be executive creative director for Evolution Bureau's office in Boulder. Daniel Stein, president of the company, said the office will start with five employees and hopes to grow that to 10 or more within six months.

Stein is searching for an office location in downtown Boulder.

Evolution Bureau specializes in digital and social media. WhiteWave Foods Co. in Broomfield (NYSE: WWAV) is a client.

Babcock "understands the relationship between digital innovation and traditional fundamentals better than anyone I have met," Stein said "He also fits into our startup culture perfectly."

Babcock previously was vice president/executive creative director at Crispin Porter + Bogusky's office in Boulder. He worked on advertising and marketing accounts related to well-known company names such as Volkswagen, Geek Squad, Domino's Pizza, Guitar Hero, Best Buy and Applebee's. Crispin Porter + Bogusky is a division of MDC Partners Inc. (Nasdaq: MDCA), an advertising company based in New York and Toronto.

Evolution Bureau advertising clients and their brands include Juicy Fruit, Skittles, the National Football League, Zynga and Absolut, among others. In 2006, the company joined the Omnicom Group (NYSE: OMC), a global advertising and marketing company based in New York.
