Arts group names Obermeier director
The nonprofit center serves as an arts and education venue for theater, music, dance and visual arts performances, exhibits and classes.
Obermeier has more than 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur, branding and marketing consultant in the United States and abroad. He owned Boulder-based marketing firm Stratecom Inc. for nearly 14 years before taking a job in Australia, where his family lived for nearly five years before returning to Boulder.
"The Dairy Center is one of those rare opportunities where I can combine my professional expertise with my nonprofit experience and my interest in the arts," Obermeier said. "The Dairy plays an important role in the Boulder community and the possibilities for expanding that role and furthering the arts here is exciting and energizing."
Obermeier's arts experiences include his service on the board directors for the Boulder Philharmonic, the Colorado Music Festival & Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts, and in a consulting capacity with the Sydney Symphony in Australia. He has also been involved in the nonprofit sector working with the YWCA of Boulder, HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, the American Indian College Fund, and the Star Center Foundation.
The center is the home of the Boulder Ballet, the Parlando School for the Arts, Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company, Stories on Stage, CenterStage Theatre Company, Imagination Makers Theatre Company, and 3rd Law Dance/Theater. In addition, The Dairy exhibits the work of more than 80 local, national, and international artists in eighteen juried shows each year.
