LONGMONT - The city of Longmont's sales- and use-tax collections increased 10.1 percent in February, compared with the same period a year ago, according to the city finance department's report released Tuesday.

Longmont collected $3,935,076 in February, compared with $2,573,058 in February 2011. The collection in February represents sales made in January.

The sales-tax component of collections increased by 11 percent from the same month the year before, and the use-tax component increased by 4.4 percent.

City lodging-tax revenue increased 18.8 percent, with $19,327 collected in February, compared with $16,268 collected for the same period a year ago.
