Hultman will lead business development efforts to support the chamber's Innovation Blueprint 3.0, a vision plan rolled out in late May. The plan calls for a conference center, mentoring and training programs and capital investment programs, among other things.
Hultman takes over from Scott Ziemba, the previous director of investor relations at the chamber.
Hultman previously worked from Taggart & Associates Inc., doing business as Taggart Insurance in Boulder, where he was a sales producer on the commercial broker team for the last six years. He previously owned an independent insurance agency in the Louisville/Superior area.
Hultman received a member of distinction award from the Boulder Chamber in 2011. He also served in the chamber's ambassador program in which volunteers host chamber events and mentor local businesses, among other things.
The chamber has more than 1,800 member businesses, a staff of 10 and an annual operating budget of $1.2 million.
It is located at 2440 Pearl St., which also is home to the Boulder Economic Council, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Small Business Development Center.
