Food banks to 'win' at CU-CSU game
Last Updated: 14:46 August 19, 2013
All funds collected will support food banks in the Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado.
"The two universities often collaborate on research and other initiatives that benefit the entire state, said CU Chancellor Phil DiStefano and CSU President Tony Frank in a joint press statement. "The 'Tackle Hunger' challenge is yet another example of the many ways that higher-education institutions in Colorado support our communities."
Volunteers will be working the event at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver, collecting cash from tailgate party-goers and game attendees. The donation campaign will benefit Community Food Share in Louisville, which serves Boulder and Broomfield counties, and the Fort Collins-based Food Bank for Larimer County.
Fans also will have a chance to donate via text message during the first quarter of the game, with results announced before the clock runs out.
