Ex-TechStars chief Beatty hired at AOL

Luke Beatty, who announced last week that he's leaving his post as managing director of TechStars Boulder, is headed to AOL. AOL chief analytics officer Tim Lemmon announced in a blog post Wednesday that Beatty is joining the company on Sept. 9 as head of strategic partnerships. žIn this newly created position, Luke will work with our business development, technology, advertising and content teams to create partnerships that will leverage outside thinking and resources to help build better products and services, Lemmon said. Beatty, founder of Associated Content, served as a vice president at Yahoo! after Yahoo! acquired Associated Content in 2010. He left Yahoo! last year, and served as an entrepreneur in residence for Techstars, a startup accelerator, before stepping into the role as managing director. Beatty could not be reached for comment Wednesday. Nicole Glaros returns to Boulder to replace Beatty in her former post after spending a year in the same role with TechStars New York. In an email Tuesday, TechStars co-founder and chief executive David Cohen said Beatty has been a lead mentor in the past for many companies at TechStars, and I expect that will continue. Luke truly loves TechStars and has expressed his strong desire to stay very involved. Luke has helped so many companies around Boulder, not just in the context of TechStars. I can't imagine any of that will change.
