Day of Caring postponed due to heavy rains

The event was planned for 8 a.m. to noon, with a celebration picnic afterward. The project was slated for 1,066 volunteers and 39 nonprofit sites throughout Boulder and Broomfield counties. In the coming weeks, projects may be rescheduled with their volunteer groups dependent on project site availability.
Doug Yeiser, president and chief executive of Foothills United Way, said "Our top priority is the safety of all Coloradoans. As priority needs are established, Foothills United Way will provide community members with opportunities to help flood victims and area recovery efforts. Our hearts go out to the families of those lost in the flooding."
Also, Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center Foundation announced Thursday it is monitoring the weather situation to determine options for its fundraiser, the Good Sam Bike Jam, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 15.
Officials said the 100-mile and the two 62-mile routes that go through mountain communities have been cancelled, but the 45-, 32- and 20-mile routes are still on.
