Broomfield-based Ball Corp. (NYSE: BLL) reported that revenue for the latest quarter was virtually unchanged from the $2.3 billion the company reported for the third quarter of 2012. Income was up slightly from the $115.1 million reported for the same period a year ago, according to the earnings report.
Comparable 2013 earnings per diluted share for the third quarter were $1, compared with earnings of 90 cents per diluted share for the third quarter of 2012.
Better than expected beverage can sales led in part to the slightly improved results, John Hayes, the company's chairman, president and chief executive, said in a prepared statement.
The company also reported a quarterly dividend of 13 cents per share in the earnings report.
Ball said its subsidiary Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. in Boulder had a solid backlog of aerospace-related contracts of $942 million at the end of the third quarter.
Worldwide, Ball Corp. employs 15,000 people. The company reported 2012 revenue of more than $8.7 billion.
