BOULDER - Luxury home sales in the Denver metro area ticked upward in December, both versus the month of November and year over year, according to a report released Thursday by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.

Seventy-four luxury homes sold in the region in December, a 15.6 percent increase compared with December of 2012. That number was a 12 percent hike from November when 66 luxury homes were sold.

There were eight $2 million or higher sales in December, down from 13 in November. Denver boasted 24 million-dollar sales, followed by Boulder with 10. Cherry Hills Village and Castle Rock had four each.

The most expensive home in the region in December was a six-bedroom, 5.5-bath, 10,000-square-foot home near Denver Country Club that sold for nearly $4.4 million.

The numbers are based on Multiple Listing Service data off all homes that sold for $1 million or more last month.

The median sale price of luxury homes dipped slightly year over year to $1,336,894. But such homes sold faster on average than a year ago, and sellers received a higher percentage of asking price at 95.5 percent.
