Azura of Lafayette Rehabilitation and Wellness Suites, at 329 Exempla Circle, will be a 69,643-square-foot building that includes 70 beds in the skilled-nursing portion, with a focus on short-term rehabilitation. The other 30 beds will be dedicated to the assisted-living facility.
Mainstreet Property Group, a developer of senior living and care facilities that is based in Carmel, Indiana, is behind the $17 million Azura project. Meyer and Najem Construction LLC out of Fishers, Indiana is the builder, according to city of Lafayette planning documents.
Kate Snedeker, a spokeswoman for Mainstreet, said in an email that construction is slated for completion by the end of the year.
The first floor of the two-story building will house common areas and the skilled-nursing rooms, while the second floor is devoted to assisted living, complete with separate dining and workout facilities.
The building will also include a wellness spa, physical therapy gym, wireless Internet cafe and a movie theater.
The facility is being built just north of the Exempla hospital campus and just south of the 264-unit Prana apartment complex that lie east of U.S. Highway 287 on the south end of town. Another 240-unit apartment complex, Prasanna, is also slated for the area. SoLa Inc., an investment group from Illinois, also still has several acres of land north of the hospital slated for commercial, retail, office, restaurant and hospitality uses.
