LYONS - Two Rivers Foods received $160,000 in funding and loans to buy equipment and expand its business making and selling SolBites single-serving, cracker-and-spread, snack packs.

The Lyons-based company received $100,000 from new and previous investors, according to a press statement. The company also received a $60,000 loan from Whole Foods Market (Nasdaq: WFM) in Austin, Texas.

At the same time, Two Rivers Foods has expanded its SolBites snack-pack distribution into 167 Stater Bros. Markets stores in southern California and into 152 The Fresh Market stores (Nasdaq: TFM) in 26 states, according to a press statement. Snack packs sell for $28.68 for a box of 12 on the company's website,

SolBites snack packs also are sold at local and national retailers including Food Town, based in Avenel, New Jersey; Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) in Cincinnati, Ohio, which includes King Soopers stores; and Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage Inc. stores (NYSE: NGVC) in Lakewood.

SolBites snack-pack flavor choices are crackers with almond butter and honey, crackers with chocolate peanut butter and strawberry spread, and crackers with peanut butter and strawberry spread. Packages are recyclable. The company was founded in 2011.
