City council OKs subdivision in west Longmont

The Longmont City Council voted 7-0 Tuesday night to rezone the vacant 15.23-acre tract from low-density residential (R-1) to planned unit development-residential (PUD-R), which allows a developer to build some attached units and slightly more homes.
The low-maintenance development will be built by Louisville-based Boulder Creek Builders. Architect David Gregg, the company's director of community development, told the council that the senior-friendly homes would have features such as wider hallways and roll-in showers.
The tract is owned by International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, according to the Longmont Planning and Zoning Department.
An assisted-living facility for seniors is located just to the north, across Ninth and on the west side of Hover.
