Kara Nielsen joined Boulder-based marketing firm Sterling-Rice Group as culinary director, to oversee strategy, product development, design and advertising services as well as the firm’s new commercial kitchen in the recently opened Experience Design Center. A native of the San Francisco Bay area, she has more than 20 years of experience focused on consumer and culinary trend analysis and strategy, most recently at CEB Iconoculture Consumer Insights. She has a master’s degree in gastronomy from Boston University and a bachelor’s in French studies from Northwestern University.
Hap Fry and Sean Leddy joined Fort Collins-based marketing firm AMG Creative. Fry, who has 11 years of journalism experience, previously worked at Madwire Media. Leddy had worked with Center Partners for seven years, the past three as senior graphic designer.
David Powell was named chief financial officer of Zmags, which develops cloud-based digital publishing software and recently was acquired by The Gores Group, an investment firm with offices in Boulder. Powell has nearly two decades of financial-management experience.
Ed Dolan was hired as an estimator and project manager at Windsor-based Davinci Sign Systems. He has more than 30 years of experience in construction.
Paul Uhlig became chief operations officer and executive vice president at Greeley-based Northstar Bank Colorado on May 19. He previously was COO at Capital West Bank in Laramie, Wyo.
Colleen Harvey was hired as portfolio manager for Colorado Capital Management, an independent advisory and wealth-management firm in Boulder. She has more than 15 years of financial-industry experience, most of which was spent managing portfolios for high-net-worth clients at Merrill Lynch and Fidelity Investments.
Miriam MacKay joined the Broomfield Chamber of Commerce as director of membership engagement, and Jenna Finerty was promoted to director of business resources. A graduate of Regis University in Denver, MacKay has more than 20 years of experience working in corporate environments. Finerty joined the Chamber a year ago as director of membership engagement.
Shar Shadowen was hired as a senior product manager in the Fort Collins office of engineering firm Lamp, Rynearson & Associates. A licensed professional engineer with 20 years of experience in Northern Colorado, Shadowen has experience in land development, municipal infrastructure, residential, multi-family, commercial and industrial projects as well as oil and gas sites.
Charles Hostetler and Jeff Lask joined Engineering Analytics in Fort Collins as senior environmental scientist and senior environmental manager, respectively. Hostetler’s more than 20 years of expertise includes both field characterization methods and groundwater flow, transport and geochemical modeling. With 30 years of experience, Lask will provide technical support to address issues that involve compliance and permitting; due diligence; complex site characterizations; soil and groundwater remediation, and specializes in transload facility design and construction/engineering oversight.
MWH Global promoted Roy C. Fazio to vice president and MWH Constructors district director; and James Obermeyer to senior vice president and client service manager. Both are based at MWH headquarters in Broomfield.
Chiropractor Dr. Courtney Gilmer joined Lifetime Health & Wellness in Broomfield. She completed her pre-med and doctor of chiropractic program on the East Coast before moving to Colorado to start her practice.
James Whitemore was hired as chief marketing officer for Boulder-based SolidFire, a provider of all-flash storage systems for the next-generation data center. Whitemore has more than 25 years of experience leading, developing and executing global sales, product management and marketing strategies. He most recently served as senior vice president for sales and marketing at West IP Communications, and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Northumbria University.
Candace Marshall joined Payton & Payne LLC as accounting coordinator. A graduate of Northeastern Junior College in Sterling with an agribusiness degree, Marshall has more than 15 years of accounting experience. The Northern Colorado-based business and real-estate law firm has offices in Fort Collins, Greeley, Denver and Steamboat Springs.
Marlena Rich joined Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage as a sales associate in its Boulder office. She has 20 years of experience as a sales executive in several business sectors including high tech, publishing and libraries. She earned a bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in world arts and cultures from the University of California-Los Angeles. Coldwell Banker is part of NRT LLC, a subsidiary of Realogy Holdings Corp. (NYSE: RLGY).
Crystal Schwartz and Emily Sockler joined The Group, Inc. Real Estate’s Harmony office in Fort Collins as a broker associate/partner. Schwartz graduated from the University of Northern Colorado and holds a master’s degree in forensic psychology. Since graduating from Colorado State University in 2006, Sockler has worked as relocation director for The Group.
David Kittle is the new chief information officer at Gunbarrel-based Cigarette Store Corp. and Smoker Friendly. He has 20 years of experience in the information technology and information systems industry. A graduate of Metropolitan State University in Denver, Kittle started his own consulting business, Datasys Information Services Inc.
