Boomtown Boulder demo days set for June 27

Launched in January by former Crispin Porter + Bogusky principal Alex Bogusky and three other media and tech veterans, Boomtown will see its first cohort wrap up June 27 when six companies pitch their ideas to investors and community members at The Boulder Theater.
The demo day comes just as Boomtown is sifting through applications for the second cohort and building out some new space.
Boomtown has been operating at 2060 Broadway in the Scrib co-working space, which was co-founded by Boomtown co-founder and co-director Toby Krout. Scrib is in the process of rebranding as Boomtown, while also adding more space at its current location for both the co-working and accelerator uses.
The application period for Boomtown’s second cohort closed this week, and that group of 10 to 12 companies will begin their 12-week session Aug. 25.
Boomtown participating companies receive $20,000 in seed money, $40,000 in professional services and access to $700,000 worth of other perks through Boomtown partners in exchange for Boomtown receiving a 6-percent equity stake.

The six companies that will be pitching include:
6px – A Boulder-based company that has developed an API for image processing in the cloud, providing infrastructure for developers to create smart image-based apps and services.
Chui – Started by entrepreneurs who met at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Chui is a smart doorbell that uses facial recognition to make the front door a gateway to the intelligent home. The technology has applications for homeowners and commercial users, from security and monitoring to controlling access for visitors while on vacation.
Wuf – Formerly Ridogulous Labs, the virtual-based company has developed a smart dog collar to aid in training and tracking pets.
PhotoFeeler – The Boulder-based company tells users how they’re being perceived in photos so they can choose the ones that make the right impression for their different online profiles.
Content BLVD – The Los Angeles-based company is developing a sponsored content marketplace that connects brands with content creators.
College Press Club – The Denver-based company has an automated platform that makes it easier for advertisers to buy and manage space in college newspapers.
