Eric Wallace, president and co-founder of Longmont-based Left Hand Brewing Co., on Thursday was named Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year in the consumer products and services category for the Mountain Desert Region.

Twenty-four finalists vied for the Entrepreneur of the Year title in eight different categories for the Mountain Desert Region, which consists of Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. Wallace and the other regional winners will be finalists at the national awards ceremony in November in Palm Springs, Calif.

The award recognizes high performance in leading successful innovative businesses that show a commitment to their communities. Wallace co-founded Left Hand in 1993 with Dick Doore and has grown the company during the past 20 years into the 38th-largest craft brewery by volume in the country.

Louisville-based Fresca Foods' Todd Dutkin was a Mountain Desert Region finalist in the distribution and manufacturing category.
