BROOMFIELD - A Texas-based company that specializes in testing for and removing asbestos, lead, mold and mildew has opened an office in Broomfield.

ARC Abatement Inc., based in Waco, Texas, has leased 7,526 square feet of flex space at 7180 117th Ave. from Redball Investments LLC.

ARC Abatement provides environmental assessment and environmental remediation services for commercial, industrial, educational and government facilities across the United States. It has six offices in Texas and Louisiana.

Specific services include testing for asbestos, lead, mold and mildew, plus asbestos removal, asbestos abatement, remediation of mold, mildew and other hazardous materials, lead paint removal, controlled demolition, selective/interior demolition and infection-control containment.

Mike Griffin will serve as general manager for ARC's office in Broomfield. He said the company will sub-contract the testing work in Colorado, but an initial crew of 10 workers will provide the rest of the services.

The plan is to serve all of Colorado, southern Wyoming and western Nebraska from the office in Broomfield. Griffin expects to employ up to 50 workers in a couple of years.

ARC Abatement has been considering opening an office in Colorado for several years, having first registered with the Secretary of State's office in 2009.

Chris Ball and Brandon Ray of Cassidy Turley represented the landlord, and ARC Abatement represented itself in the lease deal.
