Louisville City Manager Malcolm Fleming said he had an inkling that all was not well at the Louisville Sam's Club. A few days before the store announced its closing, "the Louisville Police Department received a request from Sam's Club to hire two off-duty officers for a 'special event' security detail on Sunday night," Fleming said in a memo.
The Eye would have been suspicious as well. It doesn't think Sam's Club was preparing for any special consumer sales event on a Sunday night.

Oskar Blues Brewery's Imperial Stout in a can was named in MAXIM Magazine's February cover feature, "Top 25 Best New Beers In America." The avant-garde craft brewery in Longmont, which aroused the craft-beer-in-a-can craze, continues to push the boundaries of what is expected out of a canned beer.
Mike Dawson, author of the article, wrote, "The beer pros at Oskar Blues have struck black gold. This canned, oh-so-drinkable skull-crusher is thick and black like Texas tea, smells like sweet pipe tobacco, and has deep notes of maple bacon, cherries, and mesquite."
The University of Colorado at Boulder is the nation's No. 5 "Best Value" public college or university for 2010, according to rankings released by USA Today and The Princeton Review.
CU-Boulder's "reasonable tuition is one of the school's major selling points," stated the CU profile posted on USA Today's Web site. "Tuition (including mandatory fees) for Colorado residents ranges from roughly $8,000 to $12,000 annually, depending on the academic program. For nonresidents, tuition ranges from $28,000 to $31,500. Room and board is an additional $10,000 annually. Aside from these expenses, the school estimates that a student will spend about $2,000 in books and supplies."
