Jen Soule was promoted to sales manager for VeloPress, a Boulder-based specialty book publisher and a division of Inside Communications Inc.
Wendi Kreps was named managing director of Sterling-Rice Group, a marketing company based in Boulder.
ARCHITECTURE, CONSTRUCTION
Rodwin Architecture of Boulder hired Ron Flax as project manager; Jill Strang as project designer; and Blaine Bogar, as intern.
Knudson Gloss Architects of Boulder added Rob Enlow and Adam Nicholls as draftsmen and Mike Davinroy as a project manager.
Joan Lutz, Lance Reed, Brendan Kennedy, Jenny Krenek and Nicholas Fiore were hired as designers for CommArts Inc., an architecture and design firm in Boulder. Robert Koch was named project manager, and Abe Harrison was named staff accountant.
BANKING, FINANCE
Patricia L. Pacey, president and founder of Boulder consulting firm Pacey Economics Group, was appointed by Gov. Bill Ritter to serve on the Colorado Commission on Higher Education.
Rod Witte was hired as vice president and team lead of Denver corporate banking for First National Bank of Colorado.
Lisa Reeves joined Boulder-based venture capital firm Vista Ventures as a general partner. She will be responsible for enterprise software and infrastructure investments.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
David E. Walrath, a professor of mechanical engineering, was awarded emeritus status by the board of directors of the Laramie Economic Development Corp. in Wyoming.
Andy Mesches of Key Equipment Finance and Caryn Geiger of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage were named co-presidents for the Superior Chamber of Commerce board of directors. John Skram of Tarral, Skram & Nielson was named secretary and Brandon Culter of Culter Law Office was named treasurer. Bob McCool of arielMIS, Kevin Colon of Cool River Church and Brad Hughes of State Farm Insurance were also elected to the board.
EDUCATION
Professor Manuel Laguna was named associate dean of faculty for the University of Colorado at Boulder's Leeds School of Business.
HEALTH CARE
Chantal M. McDonald, with Physiotherapy Associates, a rehabilitation clinic in Longmont, has been certified in manual therapy.
INSURANCE
Robert Grubb, chief executive officer of Alliant National Title Insurance in Longmont, will speak in September at a Texas Land Title Association event.
LAW
Daniel M. Gross was named partner of Berg Hill Greenleaf & Ruscitti LLP, a firm in Boulder. He will continue practicing in the areas of construction law, government contracts and civil litigation.
MANUFACTURING
Brian Link was hired as sales manager for mix1, a Boulder producer of a natural protein drink.
Marv Hopkins, president and chief executive of Hunter Douglas Inc., a manufacturer of window coverings, was named one of the "Power 100: The Movers and Shakers in Home," in HFN magazine. Hunter Douglas is based in Upper Saddle River, N.J. and has operations in Broomfield.
Smart Balance Inc., a Creskill, N.J.-based maker of heart-healthy foods with operations in Longmont, appointed James Leighton and Michael O'Brien to its board of directors. Leighton is the senior vice president of operations and supply chain for Perdue Poultry Co., and O'Brien is the co-founder of Catalina Marketing Corp.
Josh McClellan became partner with Pixie Mate, a Boulder tea company. He will oversee finance and operations activities and help with sales.
NONPROFIT
Tori Bellah, a police officer in Longmont, joined the board of directors for the Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley, a Longmont organization offering services to women and children affected by domestic violence.
Liz Wigod was hired as director of donor development for Compass House, a nonprofit in Boulder that provides counseling services for teens and their families.
RETAIL
Linda Jones is the new owner of Feather Thy Nest, an antiques store in downtown Boulder.
REAL ESTATE
Alfred Saussotte, a broker associate with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in the company's north metro office in Broomfield, earned the Certified International Property Specialist designation.
Steve Sims, a commercial real estate broker, joined Acquire in Boulder.
TELECOMMUNICATIONS
Douglas C. Eby and Michael J. Mahoney joined the board of directors of Level 3 Communications Inc., based in Broomfield. Eby is chairman and chief executive of TimePartners LLC, and Mahoney was most recently the president and chief executive of Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises.
OTHER
Dan Hannon was named chief financial officer of Range Fuels Inc., a cellulosic ethanol company based in Broomfield.
Steve Enger was named vice president of investor relations and corporate development for Ellora Energy Inc., a Boulder-based oil and gas minerals development company.
